MILWAUKEE COUNTY RESIDENTS:

If your divorce is taking place in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, both you
and your spouse are required to attend an approved parent education
program of at least four hours in length regarding the effect of a divorce
action on your children. Attendance is mandatory and you will not be able
to be divorced in Milwaukee County unless an attendance form is on file
with the Family Court Commissioner’s office, even if you and your spouse do
not have any disputed issues regarding the children. Please provide us with
a copy of the attendance report form that you will receive when you
attend this session. We require you, as our client, to attend this class
within forty-five (45) days of the date of this letter.

If there are disputed issues, prior to the court permitting you and your
spouse to mediate these issues, you will need to attend the approved
Parent Education Program. Therefore, it is critical that you contact one of
the following agencies to register and attend the Parent Education Program
as soon as possible so this requirement can be fulfilled and your case
progress on schedule. Please note that you must find out from the program
if they are offering a parent education program which is approved by
Milwaukee County (as agencies do drop out of the program). The program
is entitled “Children Cope with Divorce”.
